Due to a part-time job selling mobile phone cards, Zhang Quan was interested in mobile phone communication. When he entered the school in 2020, he unswervingly chose the communication engineering major of the School of Electronic Information.

The first metamorphosis: Overcome inertia to determine the goal of struggle

A clear, persistent struggle? Just passed the college entrance examination into our school, Zhang Quan is in a “stagnant” state, has not begun to plan the next step, lazy day.

“Man creates the environment, and the environment also creates man."”In the evening self-study every day, the studious atmosphere of the students around him deeply infected him, so he also became a member of the hard study, began to reach out to touch the heart of the far “electronic dream” - to become an excellent electronic engineer.

“That's what I'm most grateful for. A good learning atmosphere helped me change my attitude towards learning”. Quan Zhang said frankly.

Determined to start pursuing his dream, Zhang Quanxian set a small goal - to win a merit scholarship at Chongqing Institute of Technology.

A building can be built high only if the foundation is strong. Zhang Quan knows that his theoretical foundation is not solid enough, so he treats every lesson with great care. All the sweat and nights will pay off. Through unremitting efforts, he won the Outstanding Student Scholarship of Chongqing Institute of Technology, ranking first in his major, and won the National Scholarship for the 2020-2021 academic year through his diligence and studiousness.

In addition to various scholarships, he also set his sights on large and small professional competitions to hone and improve his professional skills. The first challenge was to participate in the “Hetai Cup” electronic design competition for college students organized by the college.

New recruits to the battle, inevitably have no experience, confused, but he has the courage of a newborn calf. With the team members to look up information, read literature, find ideas, through day and night of study and exploration, finally Zhang Quan and the team won the second prize trophy.

This award gave Quan Zhang  great encouragement and confidence, and also enabled him to truly enter the door of communication engineering. He fully understood the process of a project development and found his own professional direction.

The second transformation: Jump on the “jump platform” to start the journey of pursuing dreams

If you want to move forward and upward, you cannot do without the support and help of a good platform. In order to cultivate students' practical and innovative ability, the Experimental Center of the School of Electronic Information provides support for students to participate in competitions and a platform for teachers to do scientific research. The center consists of 20 laboratories, 2 innovation centers, 2 teacher studios and more than 1000 sets of equipment.

Through the guidance of teachers and the introduction of classmates,  Quan Zhang, eager to grow up, joined the faculty studio, where he was exposed to more electronic devices, learned more cutting-edge technologies in the industry, and obtained more opportunities for professional competitions in disciplines. In the studio, the teacher gave them detailed guidance, and Zhang Quan continued to absorb nutrition and grow, and the speed of “breaking the cocoon”was accelerating.

After entering the studio to study for a period of time, Quan Zhang ushered in the first off-campus competition opportunity - the National College Students Engineering Training Comprehensive Ability Competition.

However, the difficulties encountered in this challenge are unprecedented, the time is tight and the task is heavy, the relevant technical, code and other professional problems are troublesome, and the PPT production of the competition is constantly modified and constantly overturned...

At this time, Keqin Li , the instructor of the innovation center, carefully guided technology-related issues, helped them clear the thorns on the road step by step, and escorted the students. Finally, the team's work - “intelligent waste sorting device” won the third prize at the municipal level, which gave Quan Zhang  a great sense of accomplishment.

Looking back on the transformation of Quan Zhang in the heavy industry, from lazy to all-out, from confused to clear goals, he has harvested 52 awards, but also harvested good teachers and friends.

“Although there is bitterness, there are tears, but more is the harvest.”Zhang Quan said of his time at the school.

Today, Zhang Quan, who works as an assistant engineer in Chongqing Southwest Integrated Circuit Design Co., LTD., is only one step away from his dream - engineer. On the road to the future, he will continue to pursue his dream with a more full attitude.
